well it's been a long time, huh?

it's after midnight now and i'm sitting in my brother's room, who's gnashing his teeth right nao - omg my ears, and i have no other choice coz my computer crashed last week.
Unfortunately. lol.
i'd really like to write some intellectual stuff but i can't since my mind is full of
french vocabs, which i can't use properly anyway and... whatever.

just wanted to update my journal.

uh, almost forgot:
does anyone know something about the poem O CAPTAIN! MY CAPTAIN! by Walt Whitman? o,o
how do u like it? any thoughts about it?
i was surprised when i've found out this poem was dedicated to Abraham Lincoln... :o
(don't blame me i had to choose one D: ...and i was like "lulz ok RANDOM choice")

I need summer vacation. RIGHT. NOW.
And sleep. Hope i can sleep more than 6 hours ... blah.

Nighty night <3

It was written for Lincoln? I guess it must have been how the seaman felt when he died.
I like the image I get when I read it, like a big ship in the dock and a huge mass of bubbling people who don't even know that the guy that they are waiting for is dead. In that sense, it is kinda cruel. . .
^^ You can make it to summer~!

In high school we used to read "Oh Captain, My Captain" aloud in sexy voices, poking gentle fun at Whitman's homosexuality. So, our class read it as Whitman's love letter to Lincoln. (But we also said that Whitman would have collected pennies... [Lincoln is on the penny])

Walt Whitman was very strange. we studied him this year. I haven't read that poem you mentioned, but i have read some of his stuff from "Blades of Grass." He's very...different. i didn't enjoy his stuff much, but that was just my personal opinions. and lol about your brother gnashing his teeth! my friend did that one night and it was so loud i woke up and thought a tank was breaking down my wall! XD hey, summer is coming soon! yay! you can make it! oh, lol. nighty night!
